1 Dream Foundation Hosts Comedy Night Fundraiser
SAN LUIS OBISPO – The 1 Dream Foundation will host two of the biggest names
in comedy when Jon Lovitz and D.L. Hughley headline the Summer Comedy Jam, a
fundraiser to be held at the Madonna Inn Expo Center at 8 p.m. Saturday,
June 28.
Jon Lovitz rose to fame with Saturday Night Live between 1985 and 1990 where
his work earned him two Emmy nominations. He's appeared in many feature
length films such as A League of Their Own and The Wedding Singer. D.L.
Hughley is best known as a member of "The Original Kings of Comedy," the
highest-grossing comedy show of all time. He also starred in his own
television sitcom, "The Hughleys" from 1998 to 2002.
The Summer Comedy Jam will also showcase Andrew Kennedy as the master of
ceremonies. Kennedy is one of the top young comics and has starred on his
own Comedy Central Presents episode.
The 1 Dream Foundation is committed to providing educational and mentoring
opportunities for disadvantaged students from Africa, Europe and South
America. Founder Tom Mott has helped provide education opportunities for
many student-athletes from all over the world. Mott believes that every
child should have an opportunity to get a quality education. "For a lot of
these kids a quality education is something they can only dream about," Mott
said. "We want to turn these dreams into realities."
The 1 Dream Foundation immerses students in a mentoring program where
students receive daily English classes along with cultural immersion
programs. Students live with host families and are also introduced to
basketball training, fitness and nutrition and participate in weekend
tournaments and sightseeing opportunities before heading off to their
respective high schools.
